Where to Start?
Organizations wishing to host an Amateur Radio exam session should delegate one of their members as the VE Team Lead. The Team Lead will serve as the main point of contact between SANDARC, examiners, and your organization.
Your designated team lead should then contact SANDARC VEC via email at vec@sandarc.org on behalf of your organization. We reserve the right to accept or deny requests to start a new team at our sole discretion.
SANDARC favors in-person teams that are attached to a club, organization, or a recurring tech-related event.
Create Your Team on ExamTools
Upon approving your request, you will be asked to provide some information about your team on ExamTools. If you are new to ExamTools, please refer to ExamTools documentation to get set up with their platform. If you are migrating an existing team to SANDARC, there is no need to create a new team. Simply add SANDARC to your existing team. SANDARC only accepts sessions that are conducted via ExamTools AND by the team that we have on file.
Note
Please bear in mind that SANDARC only accepts sessions that are run through the teams we have on file. In other words, SANDARC team leads are strictly forbidden from delegating their team lead privileges to a team that SANDARC has not approved.
Important
All SANDARC Teams are required to add Austin Smith, W4PBL, to their team on ExamTools as a co-owner. Failure to do so will result in immediate suspension.
Information We Need About Your Team
- Team Lead: This is the person in charge of communicating with the VEC. Furthermore, the team lead is also responsible for conducting the exam session, ensuring the examiners are well taken care of, and that the exam session adheres to FCC Part 97 rules and SANDARC policies.
- Co-Lead: At most two members of your team may be designated as Co-Leads. Co-Leads automatically receive team lead privileges, letting them independently conduct exam sessions for the team on which they are a co-lead. Like team leads, they may not create new teams without the VEC's explicit authorization. SANDARC may authorize more than two co-leads only when absolutely necessary.
- Team Email Address: This email will be shared with potential applicants looking for an exam session in your area. It could be the team lead's email address or an email address belonging to your organization. SANDARC will not use this email address to contact your team as we use the team lead's personal email address for that purpose.
- Zip Code: This zip code corresponds to the approximate location of where your exam sessions are held.
